REMEMBERING OUR DEAR FRIEND JENAVIEVE PHILLIPS

Hi Friends,

It is with great sadness and tears, that I share with you the news of the passing of Jenavieve Phillips. Vieve was killed in an auto accident on November 16, 2012 in Gilbert, Arizona.  Many of you may have already heard, but I wanted to reach out to all of you to keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Vieve had a very special place in my heart as I know she did for many of you. I know that her time at BYU and her experience with all her teammates was life changing, and she has expressed to me many times over the years of her appreciation and love for all of you and BYU Soccer. Vieve was an inspiration to me in so many ways and taught me so much about dedication, perseverance, and compassion. I will miss her dearly, but I know that she is smiling down on everyone in the loving presence of her Heavenly Father and Savior.

We will honor Vieve in the near future and celebrate her contributions to our lives and the BYU soccer program. I would like to put something together for her family from those of us who where blessed to know her. We will let you know of the plans soon.

My thoughts are with you all.

Many thanks to the "older" BYU women soccer players and friends that cared and loved our daughter Jenavieve. You were like the sisters she wanted but never had growing up as a little girl. She loved BYU and her team mates. Vieve became a strong young woman of faith because of each of you. We feel blessed to have her as our daughter for the short time we had but we also know she is doing what she loves and that is teaching and caring for others in another place. We are extraordinary thankful to those players that were able to make the Gilbert, AZ memorial service and express their love of Vieve. For those that could not come Vieve understands. We are especially thankful to Coach Jen for being there in the midst of the tournament. What does that say about Jen and Vieve... Also it was good to see Britney at the Douglasville, GA service and hear her speak about Jenavieve our baby. Vieve lived large and loved large...right Davia! She is amazing. We will miss her so. We will do all we can to honor her memory and live worthy to be with her again. Our doors are always open to you so if you are near Atlanta come by and see us. Love you guys - Joe and Jackie Phillips
